Navajo Council Missing & Murdered Dine’ Relatives Task Force, 8:30 am, 10.12.23

Greetings Relatives/Frens/Humans, the Navajo Nation Council Naabik’iyati Committee Missing & Murdered Dine’ Relatives Task Meeting starts at 8:30 am, Oct. 12, 2023, in the Budget & Finance Committee meeting room in Window Rock, Arizona.

According to the MMDR’s website, https://navajommdr.org/, “We are a dynamic team tasked with developing a framework for a proposed Missing & Murdered Diné Relatives data institute and to create a missing persons community action toolkit to empower Navajo communities to be proactive in prevention, awareness, and mobilization to recover missing relatives and provide support to families of MMDR.”

​MMDR also stated, “We partner with several community stakeholders to hold community forums to reach out to Navajo families and understand the scope of the missing and murdered crisis.”

MMDR also works with Navajo Nation Missing Persons Updates, which is their sister organization. NN Missing Persons Updates is led by volunteer advocate and founder Meskee Yatsayte.

The MMDR website also has a “Missing Persons Community Action Toolkit” to aid families through the process of locating a missing relative, how to work with law enforcement, mobilize a community search/rescue with emergency management agencies, and to improve communication between all the involved parties. “The ultimate goal is to bring our relatives home,” the MMDR stated.
