January 6, 2014 Professional Journal

HERE AT SHIPROCK CHAPTER…

A majority of the community people and visitors that stood up and spoke were in support the actions of Shiprock Chapter President Duane “Chili” Yazzie at the Navajo Council chamber on Dec. 23, 2013.

ARNOLD CLIFFORD, COMMUNITY MEMBER
You young folks, my grandfather here, Chili, is a great leader. I studied biology/science. And I so I speak for the birds. There are over 300 different plants out there and they are endangered by the coal industry. We need our youth to study botany. Mercury also comes from coal mining and coal fired power plants and now it’s contaminated the fish in San Juan River.

COMMUNTY MEBMBER SARAH WHITE
What our leader, Chili Yazzie, did at Council chamber was right. I support him. All the chapters needs to pass resolutions regarding the purchase of the BHP coal mine and all the waivers of liabilities that were approved for BHP and Navajo Transitional Energy Company.

CHILI YAZZIE
thank you, thank you, thank you for your speeches. And now we will vote. And we are not asking the Speaker Naize and Council delegates who are facing criminal charges to step down. We are asking them to do the right thing.

VOTE ON SHIPROCK CHAPTER RESOLUTION FOR NAVAJO NATION ATTORNEY GENERAL HARRISON TSOSIE TO FIND OUT IF THOSE COUNCIL DELEGATES THAT HAVE BEEN CRIMINALLY CHARGED SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND IT IS UP TO THEM IF IT IS TO STEP DOWN. 85 in favor, 0 opposed
