Navajo Council now on removal of Navajo language fluency requirement for candidates

Without debate, Council votes 13 in favor, 0 opposed on Legislation 0342-14: Relaling to Budget and Finance Committee, Resources and Development Committee, Naabikiyati Committee and the Navajo Nation Council; Approving Supplemental Funding from the Unreserved, Undesignaled Fund Balance in the Amount of $500,000 for Tonalea/Red Lake Chapter for Professional Services and Demolition Project.

Without debate, Council votes 11 in favor, 2 opposed on Legislation 0352-140352-14 An Action Relating to Law and Order; Resources and Development and Naa’bik’iyati’; Amending 3 N.N.C. §§ 61-69; And; Enacting the Amendments to the Navajo Nation Farm Board Plan of Operation Act of 2014

Council takes up Legislation No. 0289-14: Relating to Law and Order, Naabik’iyati’, and the Navajo Nation Council; Amending Language Fluency Requirements of the Navajo Nation Election Code at 11 N.N.C. §8(A)(4) (Office of President/Vice President), §8(B)(8) 5 (Office of Council Delegate), §8(D)(2)(c) (Land Board) and §8(D)(3)(e) (Farm Board)

this legislation was created to change law to fix problem that i see for future elections. my goal was not remove obstacles that stood in way of presidential candidate Chris Deschene. i made across the board to deflect criticism that only doing this for Chris Deschene.
