After the Council voted on Shelly’s report, Speaker Pro Temp LoRenzo Bates informed the Council that he and Speaker Johnny Naize met briefly in the morning and Naize submitted his Quarterly Speaker’s Report for the Council’s Spring session. Bates said that Naize informed him that he could not make the report to the Council because he had other commitments. Bates then asked the Council if they wanted to vote on accepting Speaker Naize’s report. The Council’s vote on accepting Nazie’s report was 15 in favor, 0 opposed. The Legislative Branch’s Public Information Office issued a press release about Naize’s report.
The Council voted 17 in favor, 0 opposed on accepting the Navajo Area Bureau of Indian Affairs report, which was presented by Navajo Area BIA Director Sharon Pinto and Navajo Area BIA Eastern Navajo Agency Director Leonard Tsosie. The BIA report is in four parts: Navajo Area BIA Director Pinto’s 44-page report; Appendix A-BIA Navajo Area Division of Transportation; Appendix B-Navajo Area Branch of Real Estate, and Appendix C-Future Outlook. Note that Appendix C is a compilation of press releases from the BIA about a variety of topics that include Climate Change.
