$4.1 million for NTEC added overnight to RDC agenda

Greetings Relatives/Frens,
I received a text this morning from an environmental journalist that alerted me to a last minute revision to the Navajo Nation Council’s Resources & Development Committee agenda for today’s meeting at 10 am the Council chamber in Window Rock, Ariz.

The revised RDC agenda, which is the second revision, added Council Delegate LoRenzo Bates’ proposed legislation for $4.1 million for Navajo Transitional Energy Company to the Council for final action. I posted a web address to the RDC’s first revised agenda early this morning. The second revised RDC agenda with the $4.1 m was emailed out at 8:43 am this morning. The $4.1 m legislation has been placed before the Energy Policy.

I was looking at the $4.1 m legislation and noticed that the prime sponsor is Delegate Bates, who is the Budget & Finance Committee chairperson and Investment Committee member. The co-sponsor of his bill is RDC Vice Chairperson Roscoe Smith.

The legislation process for the Bates and Smith bill is RDC, B&F, Naa’biki’yati’ Committee and finally the Council. The Bates and Smith bill is definitely on a fast track. The five-day public comment period on the bill ended yesterday, which allowed it to begin the legislation process anytime after Oct. 7 ended.
