DELEGATE JONATHAN HALE
regarding NN recognition of Rights of Indigenous People, want US involvement and do for all indigenous nations in north America. We are involving. President Obama visited Standing Rock rez. So support participation of President Obama at UN to show support and leadership for indigenous people.

DELEGATE DWIGHT WITHERSPOON
Support indigenous person speaking at UN Forum which would convey concerns and that wud start recognition of indigeous nations.

UNITED STATES
Having an indigenous representative to speak is supported by President of General Assembly but that is being left up to indigeous nations/people to select speaker.
If you intend to come to New York and speak on behalf of your nation, then you need to register and that wud put in process to have UNM badge and also register on speaker’s list.

TIM COULTER
i have concern regarding large group of tribe, over 130, and not just in US, but also tribes in Central and South America. not complaining but mention fact and maybe US help, is that Office of General Asembly is exclusively attached to Global Caucus. We, large group of tribes and organizatoins, is not part of that so suggestion of how speakers chosen is oriented around caucus choosing speakers and that will exclude our nations/communities/organiztions.

also to show how treated, we submitted specific documents for consideration by everyone for World Conference and Office of Genarel Assembly said wud be posted but our doucments are not posted. Ohters are. i find this reflective in zerio draft and alpha document described and okay but it’s as it it is the only document.

i;m hoping US helpful open to all indigeouns groups and that thase that participate are treated fairly. hope doesn’t sound like whinning. we can speak up for ourselves.

UNITED STATES
not sound like whinning, valid concern and we will bring to attn of Office of General Asembly.

SPEAKER’S OFFICE CHIEF OF STAFF LEONARD GORMAN
Navajo particpated in discussion in June and clear when Navajo asked well in advance to speak, we were bumped back and didn’t get chance to speak. UN allows organizations to speak ahead of nations so important for US indigeous nations and Navajo has over 300,000 individuals represented by elected officials so be clear thru PGA that is what is happening. While US points out these kinds of concerns, it needs to be stated and when get floor to ask for indigenous nations to raise hands, stand up so illustrated that indegious nations there.

UNITED STATES
if Navajo sending someone Wednesday and asking to speak? we can followup on.

WILL MIKLIN
PUZZLED by high level representation recomended in draft. Navajo represents own interest, each tribe represents own interest. We wud appreciate being recognized as separate Indian Nations. UN is world conference of other indigeous nations and Indian Nations of US also need to be recognized and then we wud be able to participate. And the concern about indigenous nations of US overwhelming UN should not be a concern.

OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER CHIEF OF STAFF GORMAN
The Navajo Nation will be sending representatives to World Conference on Indigenous Peoples in New York City from July 16 to 18.

DELEGATE ELMER BEGAY
The Navajo Nation has a concern about the upcoming sale of sacred items at an auction in Paris. The sacred items are similar to sacred sites.

UNITED STATES
we are working with other nations and we feel we are making progress. we have worked with Hopi and Laguna. So reach out to us. We also are working with museums. So let us know.

VALERIE HOUSER
Protection of sacred places and talking sacred items, the Navajo Nation has talked about the protecting of scared sites.

CONFERENCE CALL ENDED AND SUBCOMMITTEE CONTINUES MEETING ON ITS ITINERARY AND MEETINGS WHILE ATTENDING UN WORLD CONFERENCE ON INDIGENOUS PEOPLES.
