NAVAJO NATION TREATY EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT
WINDOW ROCK—Naaltsoos Sáni’, The Navajo Treaty of 1868, has returned for the 150th year anniversary of its signing. The public opening for the exhibit will be on Friday, June 1 at the Navajo Nation Museum in Window Rock, Arizona.

Media is invited to attend a soft opening for dignitaries held the day before the public opening on Thursday, May 31 from 11:00 to 3:00 p.m. (MDT). To obtain a media press pass for this event, or for the public opening, please contact Antonio Ramirez at (928) 551-2882 or visit hospitality on site.

Friday will begin with a morning walk at 8:00 a.m. from the Navajo Division of Transportation building in Tse Bonito, N.M. to the Navajo Nation Museum. Gathering for the morning walk will begin one hour prior at 7:00 a.m. The walk will be less than three miles.

Parking for the public opening will available at the museum in the main parking lot and in a lot on the west side of the Navajo Nation Museum. Additional parking and transit will be available as needed at the Navajo Nation Fairgrounds. The public is asked to stay off the right-of-way along Highway 264.

Everyone who decides to attend, please stay hydrated. According to the National Weather Service, Thursday is expected to be sunny with a high near 84. Friday is expected to be sunny with a high near 81.

The Navajo Nation Museum staff is working hard to let as many people see the treaty as possible. There will be no charge to view the exhibit, which will be open from June 1 to June 30, Mon-Sun 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

For public safety, large bags will be searched and no weapons will be allowed inside the museum. For the protection of the treaty, no photography of the treaty will be allowed. For further questions, contact the Navajo Nation Museum at (928) 871-7941.
