Naabik’iyati Committee creates Subcommittee to interview individuals for Navajo Housing Authority Board
July 31, 2014 Professional Journal

Naabi moving along. They are now on LEGISLATION 0135-14, which is to create a Naabik’iyati Committee Subcommittee to interview and recommend individuals for 8 vacant Navajo Housing Authority Board positions.

SPONSOR, DELEGATE ALTON SHEPHERD
i’m looking to correct expired teams of Navajo Housing Authority Board. Maybe having a member from each of the Navajo Council’s standing committee is solution to deal with expired NHA Board members. It’s pretty simple. My legislation is not about support or opposing NHA.

DELEGATE LEONARD TSOSIE
everything was in compliance when the Council’s Resources & Development Committee confirmed new NHA boards but that was all un-done.

DELEGATE ALTON SHEPHERD
I’m trying to move forward.

DELEGATE LEONARD TSOSIE
I kow…and so i nominate Resources & Development Committee Chairperson Katherine Benally to Interview Committee.

DELEGATE KATHERINE BENALLY
I nominate Delegate Leonard Tsosie.

DELEGATE DANNY SIMPSON
I wud think that Delegate K. Benally is representing the Naabik’iyati Committee and so the RDC would pass legislation for their nominee.

NAABI DECIDES TO VOTE ON COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS FROM FLOOR INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR COMMITTEES EACH MEET AND PASS LEGISLATION NOMINATING MEMBER TO INTERVIEW COMMITTEE FOR NHA BOARD MEMBERS.

NAABI VOTES IN Delegate Leonard Tsosie to represent Resources & Development Committee, Delegate Danny Simpson to represent Budget and Finance Committee; Delegate Jonathan Hale to represent the Health, Education and Human Services Committe; and Delegate Edmund Yazzie to represent Law & Order Committee.

VOTE ON CONFIRMING DELEGATES KATHERINE BENALLY, LEONARD TSOSIE, DANNY SIMPSON; JONATHAN HALE, AND EDMUND YAZZIE TO NAABIK’IYATI COMMITTEE’S INTERVIEW COMMITTEE FOR THE 8 NAVAJO HOUSING AUTHORITY BOARD POSITIONS, 13 IN FAVOR, 0 OPPOSED.
