Delegate Tsosie: If you think this meeting is illegal, don’t attend.
March 17, 2014 Professional Journal

Here at Navajo council Resources & Development Committee’s Subcommittee on a Proposed agreement between the Navajo Nation and URI/Uranium Resources Inc. of Texas for URI to conduct a demonstration project involving In-Situ Uranium Mining near Church Rock, N.M. Before I go any further, please excuse all typos and grammar errors and misspelling because I’m typing as fast as I can from this meeting at the Navajo Nation Museum in Window Rock, Ariz. Subcommittee member are Chairperson Leonard Tsosie and Vice Chairperson Leonard Pete.

Sorry I lost Mr. Simpson’s respect. If you feel this meeting is illegal then don’t attend. Look at legislation, we are directed to meet with URI and certain other groups. So show respect. This is tough issue.

URI PRESIDENT/CEO CHRISTOPHER M. JONES, P.E.
Is there way to secure more than 500 sites? No answer. Here to ask Subcommittee that we cleanup so no further damage to land and pple and that we change the law if we need to. Section 17 is small piece of overall clenup. We are happy to clean up and we are doing even if use more stringent or that protects envionment. That is wat decide. Cleanup that is economically done wud set standards for cleanup nationally.

Present uranium ban prevents partnerships with companies to cleanup. Profits we generate can be put back on rez to cleanup more sites and not just our site, Section 17. We can work with standards if one is developed properly.
