HERE AT NAVAJO COUNCIL’S WINTER SESSION, FIRST DAY. VICE PREZ JIM FINISHED STATE OF NATION ADDRESS AND COUNCIL WAS ASKING QUESTIONS. JIM ANSWERING QUESTIONS.

VICE PREZ JIM
I agree with you that all we need is one assessment of needs of Bennett Freeze.
If we have 16 service units then there will be more time to work with Local Governance Center.
Regarding funds returning from tribal government to states and federal government, we need to review in detail how that happened.
And yes, we need to revive water rights.
Thank you Ms BEnally for talking about Headstart. President Shelly has been meeting on Headstart and there is another meeting today or tomorrow.
We know that Navajo Nation Gaming Compact for NM is before NM and that is why President Shelly is at the NM Legislature.
We are promoting our own Department of Health to regulate health such as food safety, swimming pools, etc. And I agree that we shud never delegate that authority away.
Regarding Domestic Violence in Women and sexual abuse of women by traditional practitioners. We get lot of calls and so maybe we need to sit down with medicinemen’s association.
Headstart buildings: We need to make sure those buildings follow federal law.
And I agree that we need to work together.
Funding available for housing and how do we expedite? I agree with that.
I agree with some dialysis patients have died and there are other serious health issues out there. The government is only to monitor, not operate and administer. Navajo Nation government has every authority to monitor.
Read in newspapers about gangs and so we will continue to work on that. We are doing quite a bit with youth programs but there is limited space.
I agree that we need to work with Navajo Nation Washington, DC, office. There are different types of Promise Zones and we do need to go out and identify all sources of funding.

(I WAS TAKING PHOTOS AND MISSED SOME OF VICE PREZ JIM ANSWERS BUT VICE PREZ IS BASICALLY SAYING HE AGREES WITH QUESTIONS AND WE ALL NEED TO GET TOGETHER…)
