The Nvajo Nation Labor Commission has reconvened-continuing complaint filed against Navajo Division of Public Safety Director John Billiison by former and current Navajo Nation police officers/commanders.
COMMISSION CHAIRPERSON CASEY WATCHMAN
Parties have been in negotiations since Monday, 9/23/13.
HENRY HOWE attorney for Billision
Two isues need to be resolved for global settlement and one requires consult with his client and for attorney David Jordan consult with his clients. We thot reached settlement yesterday but issue over communication. I expect we will resolve issues in 30 minutes or at least know we can’t resolve.
Two issues and that is multiple parties and also attorneys wanting to submit written, signed agreement. And things come up when pple see in writing.
One issues Billison not satisified with and one issue complaintants not satisfied with.
And I have talked with clients about the one issue of Billison.
We may have settlement or not.
Give us 20 more minutes?
Give them more time.
COMMISSIONER CHAIRPERSON WATCHMAN
We heard case that expresses what community expects and so officers and commanders must take community into consideration and that community considers officers naataani (traditional Navajo leader).
Officers and commenders must conduct themselves in an honorable way and to deal with issues between commanders and officers in good way. Also don’t shout at persons. “We expect no less conduct in any other work place.”
If you want to win at all costs, this may turn around on you. So with that, continue negotiations.
