Resources and Development Committee loses quorum

Navajo Council Resources and Development Committee Chairperson Katherine Benally recessed the RDC at 1 p.m. for lunch – at the request of committee members and after she specifically asked them to return at 2 p.m.

Oh well, guess I’ll go home and finish posting videos of RDC reports on ethics complaints and draft Range Land Management Act.

I also need to get information on proposed Navajo Council LEGISLATION 0091-14 regarding RDC’s Subcommittee on proposed Agreement between Uranium Resources Inc. and the Navajo Nation to start a Uranium In-Situ Mining Project near Church Rock, NM. Legislation 0091-14 wud have the Council rule the RDC’s legislation that created the Subcommittee “null and void.”

According to 0091-14, it was posted on the Navajo Nation Council’s website on March 24, 2014, at 7:50 p.m., which means the five-day public comment period ends on March 29, 2014, and 0091-14 is ready for Naabik’iyati Committee action on March 30, 2014. The Council has final authority over approving or disapproving 0091-14. Delegate Edmund Yazzie is the sponsor of 0091-14.

And in an earlier post this morning, I reported that the Budget and Finance Committee was meeting today, March 15. That was incorrect! The B&F is meeting tomorrow, March 26, at 9 a.m. because the Council is having a special meeting at 10 a.m. tomorrow, March 26.

That’s all Folks…for now. Stay tuned and stay informed on the Navajo government.
