Report on amending Navajo Nation Land Acquisition Policy accepted by Resources & Development Committee
June 26, 2014 Professional Journal

HERE AT NAVAJO COUNCIL RESOURCES & DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE. RDC HEARD THE FOLLOWING REPORT:

Report by Karis N. Begaye, Attorney, NDOJ, on the Land Acquisition Policy

THIS REPORT WAS QUITE LENGTHY AND LEGAL…BUT THERE WAS A WRITTEN REPORT AND SO I’LL TRACK IT DOWN, SCAN IT AND POST LATER.

RDC VICE CHAIRPERSON ROSCOE SMITH
The RDC will take this under advisement. But in purchase of property, RDC directed Division of Natural Resources to develop report on pros and cons of property, especially Big Boquillas. Also we must remember proprietary funds.

RDC CHAIRPERSON KATHERINE BENALLY
Some of RDC suggestions was for Navajo Nation to hire real estate broker cuz when tribe going to buy land, the cost of land sky rockets cuz seller knows we have the money. And when sell doesn’t know it’s us, it seems like price tag is more reasonable. And so allow us to review your report, Ms. Begaye.
