RDC now on LEGISLATION 0158-14Legislation 0158-14: An Act relating to Resources and Development Committee, Naa bik’iyati’ Committee, and the Navajo Nation Council; changing the name of Sheep Springs Chapter to Tooh Haltsooi Chapter; and amending 11 N.N.C. §10(A) Sponsor: Hon. David L. Tom, Council Delegate

RDC MEMBER DELEGATE DAVID TOM
This legislation came directly from Tooh Haltsooi.

RDC MEMBER DELEGATE LEONARD TSOSIE
The chapter’s resolution is passed with less than the legally required minimum vote of 25 members. And is the Navajo name correctly spelled? There is also question of changing this chapter, which is Local Governance Act certified, to a “Toohhaltsooi Council of Naat’aanii.”

RDC MEMBER DELEGATE DAVID TOM
When Sheep Springs became certified, the quorum was approved at 13 members.

RDC CHAIRPERSON KATHERINE BENALLY
While you were asleep, the Navajo Election Board was given the authority to change quorum requirements. And there is issue of “Toohhaltsooi Council of Naat’aanii”.

RDC MEMBER DELEGATE LEONARD TSOSIE
When did we approve the Navajo Board of Election Supervisors to change quorum requirements? I would recommend that RDC send this legislation back to Sheep Springs.

RDC CHAIRPERSON BENALLY
The RDC can do that but 0158-14 continues onto the Council.
