Procession for Navajo Police Officer Michael Lee, 7 am, 6.25.20

PRESS RELEASE – The procession for Navajo Nation Police Officer Michael Lee will begin tomorrow, Thursday, June 25 at 7:00 a.m. from Rollie Mortuary in Gallup, N.M. as they make their way to The Potter’s House Christian Center in Chinle, Arizona.

The procession will travel west on Nizhoni Blvd to US 602 where they will proceed northbound to US 602 to US 491, From US 491 to Yatahey, NM, they will continue to Window Rock, Arizona on HWY 264.

At the Hwy 264 and Rt. 12 intersections, they will make their way to Tsaile, Arizona. Upon reaching Tsaile, they will proceed on to Navajo Rt. 64 to The Potter’s House Christina Center in Chinle, Arizona.

The service will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the burial at a community burial site east of Navajo Route 64 in Del Muerto, Arizona

To adhere to public health orders, a maximum number of 10 people will be allowed into the church which will be reserved for immediate family only.

To our valued media partners: The family of Officer Michael Lee understands there may be media in attendance, however, please note that due to the limited amount of people allowed in the church, access into the funeral service area will not be permitted. We will have a livestream available through our Navajo Police Department Facebook page for all those not able to attend. Photos are permitted however, the wife of Officer Lee has respectfully requested through our NPD family liaison that they (Officer Lee’s wife and children) not be photographed during the funeral service or at the burial site. PRESS RELEASE – Funeral service announced for fallen Navajo Police Department Officer Michael Lee

Chinle, Arizona (6.23.20) – The funeral service for Navajo Police Department Officer Michael Lee will be held this Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 10 a.m. at The Potter’s House Christian Center in Chinle, Arizona.

The Navajo Police Department has been assisting the family in the planning and coordination of the service. The family of Officer Lee is prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of everyone who wants to pay their respect and is emphasizing adhering to public health orders as the service becomes finalized.

“Officer Lee was adamant about keeping family members safe during this pandemic. The family is planning his service to honor his role as a protector and are prioritizing safety and wellbeing for family, friends, and everyone who has been touched by the life of Officer Lee. Planning a service under these circumstances is difficult, but with the heart, Officer Lee had for his family and community, he would want everyone to be safe.” Chief Francisco said. “Having said that, we are doing all we can to ensure we look at all avenues to accommodate extended family, officers, and dignitaries while honoring his life as a police officer.”

The department will immediately begin working with the venue to explore options for live streaming the service for those who are not able to attend. The service will be limited to immediate family members only.
