Greetings Relatives/Frens/Humans, If you were among the many people who went to the Navajo Nation Council chambers in Window Rock, Ariz., to attend the Navajo Nation Council’s five-day Winter Session and found the doors to the chambers locked, it was because the Council decided last night, before they recessed at 8 p.m., that they would recess until Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, so that they could meet behind locked doors with their attorney or attorneys about the tribal elections beginning at 8 a.m. today, Jan. 27, 2015. At 1 p.m., they were still behind locked doors.

I’m not sure what elections the Council plans to discuss with their attorneys, especially since the special presidential elections have been repeatedly postponed because of election grievances, political battles inside and outside of the Navajo Nation Office of Hearings and Appeals, political battles and maneuverings inside and outside the Navajo Council, and political battles and scheming inside and outside the Navajo Nation Office of the President and Vice President.

But my best guess is that the Council and their attorneys are talking about the Contempt of Court complaint that was filed against 11 Navajo Council delegates and the Navajo Election Office Director Edison Wauneka.
