Navajo Naabi Comm. hears Sexual Assault & MMDRLGBTQ+ Rept. But where Funds for MMDRLGBTQ+?!
May 12, 2022 News Articles

It’s now 1:43 PM, 5.12.22, and the Navajo Council Naabik’iyati FINALLY Hearing the “Report from the Naabik’íyáti’ Sexual Assault Prevention (SAP) Subcommittee on the United States Department of Justice Consultation Written Report on Efforts to Address the Unacceptably High Rate of Violent Crimes in Native Communities, including the Rates of Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons. Presented by Honorable Amber Kanazbah Crotty, SAP Chairwoman and Diné Action Plan (DAP) Advisory Group”
And of course, Naabi committee members are falling all over themselves saying how this Report Deals with CRITICAL issues. Yup, MMIWR is CRITICAL & Has been since 1492. I say this because I remember that the Council Delegates VOTED to Hear the MMIWR Report at the end of their Naabi, which, of course, did NOT HAPPEN becuase Naabi wanted to Debate the nez&lizer $1.1 BILLION spending plan, which is back before Naabi.
GOOD, GOOD, GOOD , GOOD!!!! Because Naabi has the OPPORTUNITY to Put OUR PEOPLE’S $1.1 BILLION for the MMIWP, for FULLY FUNDED & STAFFED non-profit Rape Crisis Centers in every 24 Regional District on Rez; 24 regional Non-Profit Domestic Violence Shelters, 24 Non-Profit Children’s Homes; 24 Non-Profit Healing Centers;; 24 Non-Profit Children & Teen Shelters; 24 non-profit MMIDRLEBTQ+ Centers;. And HIRE ADABI Director Lorena Halwood to be the Consultant. Lorena Halwood has been a VOICE for DV victims for more than 30 YEARS. She has been in the Trenches alone sometimes. And sometimes Lorena has had to Battle with our own and her own Navjjo Govt for FINANCIAL SUPPORT.
And the Council NEEDS to add $540,528 to FUND MMIWRLBGTQ+ Support & Prevention Centers across our Dine’ Homeland instead of Funding Organized Religion/Former Boarding School that has Upper Management sidestepping Question of Teaching & Supporting Our Way of Life, which Includes our Prayers/Ceremonies. 6. OLD BUSINESS: A. LEGISLATION 0013-22: to the Navajo Nation Council; Approving $540,528 in Supplemental Funding from the Unreserved, Undesignated Fund Balance to Rehoboth Christian School to Fund Student Transportation Costs, a Navajo Language Teacher Position, Summer School Expenses, and Other Needs

May Peace Prevail on Mother Earth!

it is 3:45 pm, 5.12.22, and I would not be Surprised if the Entire Staff of the Navajo Election Administration office walk out! Seriously!! I’ve been Listening to the NEA present – in English & Navajo – their Financial Need report that includes Computer Equipment that Do Not Talk to each other, let alone by Zoom! NEA staff are using 2010 programs. Their land phones Do Not Transfer! NEA accountant is using BORROWED LAPTOP from NEA staff.
And how does former NEA director/Council Delegate Edmund Yazzie respond? Yazzie Critizes them1 He starts jini?gossip that NEA director presenting Q!uestionable Budget/Wish List & so he asks for NEA Board & Voter Registration Specialist.
SHAME, SHAME on NEA Board prez Melvin Harrison for agreeing with Delegate Edmund Yazzie.
I missed name of NEA Voter Registration Specialist who CLEALRY told Council that NEA Needs $3M to UPDATE “Primitive” computer equipment & programs especially Voter Registration & Election Results Data, which is a WIDELY ACCEPTED, JUSTIFIFIED, SANE action in Upgrading Equipment & programs, which is based on Review of Current NEA computers & programs at NEA office & agency offices and Test Drive of Computers & Programs, & CONTINUED updating of Computers & Programs.
The Response from Naabi shows they are DANGEROUSLY IT ILLITERATE!!!! We, the Dine’, must Demand that our Navajo Govt elected be IT LITERATE or at least Understand It is as IMPORTANT as Bathroom Additions.
The Ultimate Solution to the TOTAL LACK of FINANCIAL SUPPOPR for our Navajo Election Administration by the Navajo Council & Prez & Vice Prez is to DIRECT the Council to Make the NEA INDEPENDENT instead of Under the Navajo Nation Council!!!!
