NAVAJO COUNCIL DEBATING LEGISLATION 0069-14, REMOVAL OF DELEGATE JOHNNY NAIZE AS SPEAKER. DURING DEBATE, DELEGATE LEONARD TSOSIE MAKES AN AMENDMENT TO 0069-14 TO REPLACE “REMOVAL” WITH “ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE WITH PAY.”

LEGISLATIVE ATTORNEY MARIANA KAHN
i’m unclear if the council understands the full ramification of what they are doing by amending Legislation 0069-14 to be legislation for placing speaker naize on administrative leave with pay.

DELEGATE LEONARD TSOSIE
My amendment will place Naize on administrative leave with pay and he will remain as delegate to participate as delegate on the council.

NAVAJO DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL DANA BOBROOF
Delegate Leonard Tsosie has clarified his amendment and so Speaker Naize will be placed on administrative leave with pay but he will be able to participate in council as a delegate.

COUNCIL VOTING ON PLACING NAIZE ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE WHICH ONLY REQUIRES A MAJORITY VOTE.
