Greetings Relatives/Frens/Humans,
I finally had a chance to look over this week’s SCHEDULED MEETINGS for the Navajo Council’s standing committee and Speaker Johnny Naize approved tWO special meetings for the Resources & Development Commmitee, which has Delegate Katherine Benally as its chairperson, Delegate Roscoe Smith as its vice chairperson and Delegates George Apachito, Leonard Tsosie, David Tom and Leonard Pete. The RDC had a regular meeting Monday, where they finished up business from their SPECIAL meeting last week.

The RDC met YESTERDAY and meets TODAY, Feb. 11, and TOMORROW, Feb. 12. I looked at yesterday’s meeting agenda and it appears that at last week’s RDC’s SPECIAL meeting in Tohajiilee, N.M., which is very close to Albuquerquer, the RDC tabled its one and only agenda item – LEGISLATION 0030-14.

Legislation 0030-14 is for the us, The People, to buy 1.32 acres of land from Southwest Silverstar Enterprises, L.L.C. The 1.32 acres is located in Page, Ariz,, which is in Coconino County. The 1.32 acres is being offered for sale to the Navajo Nation by Michael D. Anderson, owner, for $360,000, plus closing and any additional costs. RDC Vice Chairperson Roscoe D. Smith is sponsoring Legislation 0030-14. On Feb. 6, 2014, when the RDC met in Tohajiilee to discuss this land deal – and remember the land is located in Page, Ariz. – RDC members George Apachito and Leonard Tsosie Tabled Legislation 0030-14 because the owner, who lives in Page, which is about 376 miles away was not at the RDC meeting to answer the RDC’s questions “in person on the purchase price and the foreclosure process.” Surprise, surprise…

I was unable to attend yesterday’s RDC meeting but I’ll be at today’s meeting and I’ll find out if the RDC made a decision. BUT remember, under this Council of 24, the Council decided that any and all legislation would keep moving towards the Council, even if a Committee TABLED or voted down legislation that was headed to the Council. There are legislation that only require Committee approval but the 1.32 acres in Page, Ariz., for $360,000 plus closing costs and any other costs requires Council approval.

And remember to click on Words in my posts that look different from the rest of the words because then you’ll be taken to Agendas and Legislation.

May Peace Prevail on Mother Earth!
