Navajo Council mtg: Chapters Continue with 3 member quorum; Confirm Harold G. Begay, Ph.D, as Navajo Education Supt., 10 am, 1.7.22
January 6, 2022 News Articles

Greetings Relatives/Frens/Humans,

According to the Navajo Council proposed agenda for Thursday, 1.7.22, there are only two pieces of legislation, but additional items, such as other legislation, can be added to the Council agenda by any Council member, during the Council debate on Adopting its Agenda.

Legislation that qualifies as Emergency can go directly to the Council, instead of going before one or more of the Council’s five oversight committees, and so Emergency Legislation can be added to the Council’s agenda.

LEGISLATION 0001-22 has been designated as Emergency Legislation and so it can be added to the Council’s agenda Thursday. The title of LEGISLATION 0001-22 is “An Action Relating to an Emergency; Approving Waivers of the Land User Consent Requirements Within the Navajo Nation’s Homesite Lease Regulations, Resolution No. RDCO-74-16, so that Homesite Lease Applicants can Expedite Their Homesite Lease Applications During this State of Emergency Due to the COVID-19 Virus; Waivers to be for a Limited Time; and Compensation and Due Process Pursuant to 16 N.N.C. §§ 1402 et seq. Shall be Afforded to Land Users Who Have Not Consented to the Use of Their Navajo Land for Homesite Leases.
