Navajo Council did not vote down removal of Speaker Naize

HERE AT NAVAJO COUNCIL WINTER SESSION DAY 3. DELEGATE EDMUND YAZZIE IS STILL SPEAKER PRO TEMP.

DELEGATE LEONARD TSOSIE
Need correction from Office of the Speaker’s Public Information Office. The Council did not vote down the legislation for the Council to remove Delegate Johnny Naize as speaker. The legislation received insufficient votes. And a majority of the Council approved it.

DELEGATE ALTON SHEPHERD
I apologize for not attending this morning’s caucus but I have always questioned why the Council has those meetings and why Speaker Naize approves payment for Delegates that attend those meetings/caucuses because I, as Law and Order Committee chairperson, have never approved the use of L&O meeting budget to be used to pay for additional other meetings.
And i also plan to look into alleged payments and other special gifts that were given to some Delegates.
And i have proposed legislation and I understand that because I was the sponsor of legislation to remove Speaker Naize that some Delegates may retaliate.

DELEGATE KATHERINE BENALLY yells out POINT OF ORDER
What is this talk about Revenge and retaliation. it’s inappropriate.

DELEGATE NELSON BEGAYE
We bring pple in to address Council and the winter session happens once a year and then we recess.
