Navajo Council Delegates Benally & Tsinigine support Peacemaking, not Audit

HERE AT NAVAJO COUNCIL AND COUNCIL CONTINUES TO DEBATE REPORT ON NAVAJO OIL & GAS COMPANY BY CHIEF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL LEVON HENRY AND ETHICS AND RULES OFFICE DIRECTOR VERNON ROANHORSE.

When we removed my brother, Johnny Naize, we didn’t trust Navajo Peacemaking Court. And now I am hearing negative words being made against each other. Delegate Lorenzo Curley made recommendation for everyone to step down. And so let us ask Navajo Oil & Gas to resolve in Peacemaking or resign.

I have never ever supported establishment of charter cuz takes out of hands of Council and people. The supporters say that the people have more voice but that’s untrue.

The forensic audit is wrong direction. we need to look at importance of organization and use Navajo culture and values to resolve this.

DELEGATE DUANE TSINIGINE
There needs to be resolution and we need to respect our Navajo ways instead of attacking each other. We are not bad people. But there are some of our people who are happy that we are fighting each other over Navajo Oil and Gas.

DELEGATE LEONARD TSOSIE
our oath of office requires us to do something. if dollars misused, we cannot turn a blind eye to it. i cud understand if our money. we cud forgive and call bygones. but this is Navajo people’s money. I disagree with attorney Ikes and four shareholders that said that NOG is not a tribal enterprise. When NOG established it was a good thing but that has changed.

Since Ethics Director Roanhorse said documents filed with his office, i ask that we have investigation done by ethics office in ten days. and if Roanhorse doesn’t do then let’s do what Delegate Mel Begay asked and hire outside investigator. And we also have forensic audit done in 30 or 45 days.

if something starts festering, what good is Navajo Fundamental Law?

DELEGATE RUSSELL BEGAYE
And so since NOG Board member Nelson Toledo replace but he refuses to acknowledge new Board member confirmed by the Council to replace him and he has continued voting, does his voting negate what Board did?
