NAVAJO COUNCIL DEBATES LEGISLATION 0069-14, REMOVAL OF SPEAKER NAIZE AS SPEAKER, DURING SPECIAL SESSION IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER IN WINDOW ROCK, ARIZL., ON APRIL 4, 2014.

DELEGATE LORENZO CURLEY
We are here to clean house and we need to do that. WE shud have others answer. That is for fairness sake. We can’t put out one part of fire in house and let other part of house burn. so i question the resolve of the Council. This issue of Naize is the easiest one of the others. so if we want to roll up our sleeves and clean our government, we need to do that. everyone that has violated navajo nation laws and our rights needs to be held accountable.

DELEGATE MEL BEGAY
Delegate Shepherd, you said you have a list of delegates that suport 0069-14 but this legislation belongs to the council. and so your words are “self entertaining” and that is sad. the way i see this is that you are sponsoring 0069-14 because you have so much time on your hands because your community does not encounter any problems. but my community does. my community needs roads, housing. those needs are critical to us. if we make this transition with our leadership, a new speaker, the whole dynamic and structure of legislative branch will change and it will take time for new administration to provide services to the people. so i think wat is important is that it’s in the court.

as to what Delegate Leonard TSosie said, let us have trust in court.
