NAABI DEBATING PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO REQUIRE ONLY ONE OF THREE SUPREME COURT JUSTICES TO HAVE LAW DEGREE.

DELEGATE ALTON SHEPHERD
it’s realy up to land & order committee, council, president to evaluate, recommend and select a candidates for supreme court and that candidates are preferred to have law degrees. what about having referendum on judicial branch regarding election of judges, increasing supreme court membership, etc. So can we gather everything together and sing kumbaya. we are in a different environment now.

DELEGATE LEONARD TSOSIE
the original legislation required all three supreme court justices to have law degrees. this amendment would require only one supreme court justice to have law degree.

DELEGATE NELSON BEGAYE
i agree that we should hold off and do in the right way. i agree with honorable Shepherd and start all over. a couple of things have changed. and we will be talking about referendum.
