Interim Navajo Council Delegate Roland Tso sharply criticizes fellow delegates

Navajo Council convenes at 12:57 p.m. The Council is not making announcements and introductions. It is now 1:19 p.m.

Interim COUNCIL DELEGATE ROLAND TSO
I sat here for about two hours, waiting for the Council to get a quorum. I understand that the Delegates are trying to rake up as much money as they can before their term ends. i don’t serve on any standing committee. Mr. Speaker, i hope you put down your foot if you are made speaker again.

COUNCIL SPEAKER LEONARD TSOSIE
apologize to Mr. Tso. I was attending Council’s Resources and Development Committee where many people are pushing to have their legislation approved before 2014 ends. I wish Clinton Jim would stop calling me a liar, while he’s fast asleep. we did away with minimum sheep per unit. but unappreciative Land Board and Grazing Officials out there. and I understand that Mr. Jim supports presidential candidate Joe Shirley Jr.

Interviewed by Marley Shebala and alleged that these “disenfranchised voters” are Chris Deschene supporters but there are many that care about democracy. Many of them marched to the Council chambers in the cold last week and I think that they marched again.

The former Navajo Board of Election Supervisors are also here.

LEGISLATIVE STAFF READ PROPOSED COUNCIL AGENDA INTO RECORD. THERE ARE TWO REPORTS ON PROPOSED AGENDA. ONE IF FROM GALLUP CITY MAYOR REGARDING THE CITY’S DETOX CENTER. THE SECOND REPORT IS FROM THE NAVAJO NATION HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION ON RED BARN’S LIQUOR LICENSE.

DELEGATES DANNY SIMPSON AND ROSCOE SMITH MAKE MOTION FOR COUNCIL TO REMOVE LEGISLATION 0290-14, WHICH IS FOR THE COUNCIL TO ELECT A NEW SPEAKER.
VOTE ON DELETION OF 0290-14 FROM AGENDA, 11 IN FAVOR, 2 OPPOSED
