Here at Navajo Code Talker Association meeting

The Navajo Code Talkers Association is meeting today at the Navajo Nation Museum.

NTC VICE PRESIDENT RAY HAWTHORNE
Voting rights of Descendents of NTCs will be withheld.
(ACCORDING TO NTC AGENDA, THE GROUP HAD DISCUSSED AND WAS PREPARED TO VOTE ON “DUE – DESCENDANTS: $20 A YEAR, $60 LIFETIME. APPLICATION REQUIRED.)

Eastern Navajo 160 acres and there is law, if the mother is gone and wife, the next heir is oldest survivor, whether son or daughter. But didn’t work out that way. The family’s of allottees are all heirs to 160 acres. Federal government didn’t take control. Presiding judge approved the names of grandchildren. So they made new laws – only surviving son or daughter is the heir and that is what is happening to our organization.

NTC VICE PRESIDENT HAWTHORNE
Yes, I agree and we will talk about that later in agenda.

REAGAN HAWTHORNE, SON OF NTC VICE PRESIDENT:COMMEND ON DESCENDENT
IN bylaws the definition of Descendent is complex.
NTC IS 501C14 organization. 75 percent must be NTCs. 25 percent must be spouse or widow or cadet. These are 3 categories that can comprise 25 percent. so leaves 10 percent. Perhaps Descendent, granddaughter or grandson, cud be cadet or descendent. So how far is definition of Descendent carried? Huge problem in future.
