Emergency legislation to block return of federal housing funds by Navajo Housing Authority

NAVAJO NATION COUNCIL IN SPECIAL SESSION TO FINISH UP MAY 30, 2013, AGENDA. THERE ARE THREE LEGISLATION ON TODAY’S SPECIAL SESSION AGENDA.

The Council is now on LEGISLATION 0132-140132-14: EMERGENCY LEGISLATION – OPPOSING THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT’S RECOMMENDATION GRANTING AUTHORITY TO HUD TO TARGET THE NAVAJO NATION HOUSING FUNDS FOR RECAPTURE.

Recapture means that Navajo Housing Authority is being ordered by HUD to return about $102 million in federal housing funds awarded to NHA, which has not spent it.

After legislative staff finish reading 0132-14, the Council calls for vote on 0132-14 without debate.
VOTE AT 12:47 PM IS 15 IN FAVOR, 0 OPPOSED
